MILKBAR

  • Denver, CO - 2021

In the Summer of 2021, we had the pleasure of participating in Colorado Colorcon, a mural festival hosted in the Triangle Arts District. We were honored to paint the entrance of Milkbar, a popular, gothic nightclub. The project was completed over the course of a week, and was an amazing experience, filled with new friends and adventures.

INFRASOUND

  • Minnesota - 2021

In Summer 2021, we were given the opportunity to live paint at Infrasound Music Festival in Southern Minnesota. This was our first time painting at a festival, and it was such an honor to work around so many great people. The entire trip was an amazing time, and we can’t wait to come back next year! We attempted some new concepts with this mural, aiming to blend spray paint techniques with brush stroke calligraphy. We created a hand-marbled background, using a dark-psychedelic color palette, in order to fit the setting that we were painting in.

MITSUBISHI GT3000

  • Loveland, CO - 2021

We were given the honor to paint a client’s dream car, a Mitsubishi GT3000, in the fall of 2021. The client was inspired by the classic flame designs on old hot rod cars, and wanted a calligraphic design in a similar layout to that. This was the first car that we have ever painted, and it was a rewarding project that we learned a lot from. If you are interested in a calligraphy design painted on your car, please reach out!

RESILIENCE

  • Denver, CO - 2020

My most recent mural, titled Resilience, located in RiNo Arts District in Denver, Colorado. This mural is one of my largest and most technical projects to date. Painted during a year with many trials and tribulations, I wanted to provide inspiration to anyone looking for it, no matter their race, gender, age, or beliefs. The quote reads, “There’s Power Inside Me,” reminding us all that change starts with an idea, and from within. Pair that with constant action, anything is possible with the right determination.

During the process, the project was dissed by graffiti twice, causing me to essentially restart. As disheartening as that was, pushing through the issue, and continuing, embedded power into the quote, and provided me with the title for the installation.

GATEKEEPER

  • Undisclosed Location - 2019

A ten-session tunnel mural, completed in an undisclosed location. I wasn’t getting mural opportunities, so I created my own. This was my first attempt at painting such a large project underground, and it was definitely a challenge. Besides the spiders, and the carrying of all paint/supplies, the biggest factor in completing this project, safely, was dodging the bad weather. More than once I was forced to flee the tunnel system on account of too much water flooding the area. I don’t recommend attempting something like this if you aren’t experienced underground and fully prepared.

THE GREAT WALL

  • Los Angeles, CA - 2017

The Great Wall was a mural that we painted for the KINJAZ in Los Angeles, California in 2017. This wall was inside the Kinjaz Dojo, a dance studio that held classes to teach people how to dance, as well as, being a place where the Kinjaz could practice for their dance competitions. The Great Wall was the wall between the waiting room, and the actual dance studio, imbuing the entrance with power. The client wanted the mural to be comprised of japanese-inspired glyphs, similar to Kanji, but in a flat brush style. We chose to pursue Kanji-inspired letterforms with gothic influences, creating a unique blend of the two scripts. This was a wonderful project to be a part of, and we are grateful for the opportunity from the Kinjaz team.

LIFESTYLES IMAGERY

  • Roseville, MN - 2020

An abstract calligraphy mural for the interior of a local barbershop called Lifestyles Imagery. This was a two part mural, spanning from the front entrance to the interior of the bathroom. We used a minimal color scheme, with high contrast, to create movement, and lead viewer’s eyes throughout the waiting room. Furthermore, the completion of this mural planted 3,000 trees, and was one of our largest tree planting projects to date. James was a wonderful host, and if you’re ever in the area, you won’t regret getting your hair cut with him!

CAMARADERIE THROUGH CREATIVITY

  • Minneapolis, MN - 2021

Our mural for LynLake Street Art Series, a mural festival in South Minneapolis. Painted over the course of a weekend, we practiced some new layout techniques, while providing some positive reinforcement to the community around us.

BLACKEYE ROASTING CO.

  • St. Paul, MN - 2017

A mural we painted in the interior of the Blackeye Roasting Co. manufacturing headquarters, in 2017. This was an extremely wide mural, spanning over 75 feet, and featuring Blackeye Roasting Co.’s logotype on one wall, and their cup logo on the other. We used minimal amounts of calligraphy to add a unique feel to the mural, and to add a border that accentuates their branding, without overshadowing it. This corner of the warehouse became the worker’s lounge, and developed into where the employees hung out on their breaks.

DREAMWEAVER

  • Kansas City, MO - 2019

A mural I painted for Kansas City Masterpiece in 2019. My goal with this one was to practice weaving strokes on a larger scale, and to create a minimal calligraphy composition, that’s balanced, and visually appealing. I chose to use black and white so that I could focus on exploring new techniques with my craft.

SUPREME ART OF WAR

  • Roseville, MN - 2020

We had the pleasure of installing a mural on the interior of a local tattoo parlor, called Supreme Art of War. We used their Spartan filigree branding to border the circle, while enclosing their company’s name within. Along with the title of their company, we continued the circle with the year that they were established. Within the lettering, the middle of the circle includes the main focal point, a large, gothic-inspired S to represent the word Supreme. Behind that, we include an abstract calligraphy background to add visual interest and to fortify the centerpiece of the circular emblem, bringing the design to whole.

COLORADO COLORCON

  • Denver, CO - 2019

A mural we painted in collaboration with Jason Garcia and Patrick Kane McGregor for the 2019 Colorado Colorcon event hosted in Denver, CO. This was our first mural in Denver, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to participate alongside so many great artists! The centerpiece of the dog and the diamonds was already being painted when we were invited to join in. We had a day and a half to do something that would help accentuate the current design, so we went with a circle calligraphy ring to enclose the centerpiece. We then signed everyone’s name to further the composition as a whole.

BLARNEY PUB

  • Minneapolis, MN - 2017

One of our very first murals, we painted this on the back of Blarney Pub in Dinkytown, home of the University of Minnesota campus. We had about a week to complete this art installation, and we wanted to explore mixing spray paint lettering styles with brush calligraphy. Being an Irish Pub, we opted for a green and gold color scheme, and used 7 shades of yellow to create a gold effect on the letters. Doing this allowed the gold color to stay the same, no matter what the lighting was, whereas a metallic gold paint would reflect light, and darken in low light scenarios.

MINDFUL RELEASE MARBLED

  • Parker, CO - 2020

A collaborative mural in conjunction with Ricks and Patrick Kane McGregor. They already had the imagery of the sphinx cat and the bulldog painted, and were looking for a unique background to compliment the design. We wanted to explore some styles, and techniques, so we attempted our first hand-marbling of a wall. We used metallic gold to give a responsive effect on the mural, allowing the background to shine brightly, or mute itself, depending on the location at which the viewer stood. We then tested painting oriented type, learning how to use guidelines at a large scale. The text reads, Mindful Release, with the curious animals blocking a portion of the design.
